Collaboration Planned with the Greater Johnstown Camera Club

Planning is currently underway with local photographers to post several photos on a web page for Allied Artists to choose from. The artists will be free to pick one to reinterpret as a painting, drawing, pastel, watercolor, sculpture ... or whatever media you think is appropriate.

We’re expecting to hang the original photo and the reimagined art piece side by side.

If you are a photographer in AAJ but not a member of the camera club, we encourage you to join them. Their membership info can be found on their website. If you’re not interested in doing that, perhaps you might want to branch out and try another media. Who knows what hidden talents are lurking within! Also, digital recreations/alterations are acceptable. Just make sure it’s a creative reinterpretation of the original, not just the application of standard filters.

Photos will be available hopefully by mid to end of January, and you'll have until May 18th to perform your magical transformations.

The show will be exhibited at SAMA Pasquerilla and hang through July 31st.

This will be an open entry show with no entry fee so no juror and no awards. We will, most likely have a reception / get together for both organizations. Depending on participation and space limitations there may be no more than 2 art selections for each photo, so it will be first one submitted.  Watch your email for more information.  Ken Cotlar, exhibit coordinator
