Past news and events of Allied Artists of Johnstown

The Allied Artists of Johnstown are once again offering scholarship grants to talented high school seniors who wish to pursue a career in art.  Scholarships totaling $5,000 will be awarded to deserving applicants on the basis of quality of work.  Eligible students are students who have already been accepted to or who have applied to enroll in a university, college, or technical school to pursue a career in the visual arts.  Careers include, but are not limited to, visual arts, arts education, new media, theatrical make up, animation, architecture, installation art, and videography.  Applicants must reside in either Cambria or Somerset County.
Each applicant must present a portfolio containing a minimum of eight original works.  These works should include at least 5 pieces done outside of the classroom and without supervision. The portfolio should also contain examples of the field of endeavor that the student wishes to pursue.  Applicants must personally present their portfolio on Saturday, June 13, 2020, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at ART WORKS, located at 411 3rd Avenue, (Cambria City) Johnstown.  You will be notified of your appointment time once you submit your application.  Application deadline is Friday, June 5, 2020.  For more information and to obtain an application form, please contact the AAJ Scholarship Chairman at

Filling the Void: Let's Create with GG

Gallery on Gazebo is issuing a call for supplies that feed the mind and heart.

How can you help?  We will be asking for your generosity in collecting art & craft supplies for underserved K-5 youth. These will be packaged, as per COVID-19 guidelines, along with lesson plans, and delivered. Your donations can be placed in decorated boxes in to-be-named grocery and convenient stores. They will be labeled "Let's Create with GG," the I Spy project. Contact Lida Hood at for more specific information.
to begin on May 29th
Even during this economical down turn, we still count on the support of our members and patrons to help us fund our activities, especially our scholarship program. We hope that each and every one will remember AAJ with a donation of any amount. Letters will be sent out soon. Thanks in advance. Marianne Krizner and Judy Crookston, co-chairs
